Social & Video Platforms in Google Search Console

Within Search Console, you can now add your social media platforms Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube through the new “platform property” function. Once authorised, you get a full view of the data, even working for creators without a website of their own.

Social & Video Platforms in Google Search Console

Google's latest Search Console update is a big one, as you can now see how your social and video content performs directly within Search, alongside your website data.

What Has Changed in Google Search Console?

Within Search Console, you can now add your social media platforms Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube through the new “platform property” function. Once authorised, you get a full view of the data, even working for creators without a website of their own.

Once connected, you get:

  • A Performance report, tracking impressions, clicks and other metrics, with fully exportable data.
  • An Insights report, giving an overview of traffic trends and top-performing posts.
  • Achievements, milestones unlocked as you cross new click thresholds from Search.

What Does This Update Mean?

Social media marketing used to rely extremely heavily on interpreting likes and impressions as what landed with audiences. The line between social content and SEO was already becoming slimmer, and this Search Console update only brings the two closer together.

Rankings and social engagement strategies won’t be based on assumptions or uncertainties, as it’s clear we're moving towards a world where brands can better understand how their posts, videos and wider social content contribute to discoverability beyond the platforms themselves.

Visibility is no longer just about webpages ranking for keywords. It's about brands showing up wherever audiences are searching for answers.

Within the marketing industry, many are considering this a concession by Google that discovery doesn’t just happen primarily in search engines anymore, but to us at Mira, we think that’s only scratching the surface.

How Mira Marketing Will Monitor The New Search Console Update

This Search Console update has got the whole team at Mira so excited. The picture is clearer than it’s ever been on how content lands, whether it’s thought leadership, educational content, or video, meaning we’ll be able to deliver better reporting to our client partners, build improved strategies, and make clearer decisions around accounts.

That's what we're all about as an agency: measurable, actionable data. Having visibility into how thought leadership, educational content and video content each drive organic search presence lets us measure social marketing performance properly, rather than relying on likes and impressions.

In turn, that means better reporting, improved strategy, and clearer decision-making for the brands we work with. Want to get ahead of the game with your next Social Media campaign? Get in touch with us and book a call today.
